Atmospheric Environment and Ocean Division, Atmosphere and Ocean Department, Japan Meteorological AgencyOn each June 1, "Japan Meteorological Day", awards are issued to people who contribute to the development of the meteorological services such as the ships which contribute to the marine meteorological observations and reports are awarded. Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan and Japan Meteorological Agency award them for their outstanding contributions to the marine meteorological observations and reports.
"Japan Meteorological Day": JMA designated June 1 as "Japan Meteorological Day" to commemorate the beginning of the meteorological service in Tokyo on June 1, 1875.
